A day to remember and celebrate

February 14 is a very special and romantic day for Hawaiian indigenous peoples.

On this day in 1779, Hawaiians killed the imperialist colonizer British Captain James Cook after he tried to kidnap a Hawaiian chief.

It was called the Battle of Kealakekua Bay.
